Manchester Airport Terminal 1 — Permanently Closed

⚠️ Terminal 1 Has Closed

Manchester Airport Terminal 1 closed permanently in November 2025, with the final shutdown completing in March 2026. This closure is part of the airport's £1.3 billion transformation programme. Terminal 1 first opened in 1962 and served passengers for over 60 years.

Where Has My Airline Moved To?

Every airline that previously operated from Terminal 1 has now relocated:

  • Most airlines (easyJet, Emirates, British Airways, Finnair, Icelandair, SAS, Gulf Air, Norse Atlantic, Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, TAP Air Portugal): Now operating from Terminal 2
  • Ryanair: Now operating from Terminal 3

Important: Do not rely on old booking confirmations. Always check your airline's website or the Manchester Airport terminal checker before travelling. If in doubt, head to Terminal 2 — it now handles over 75% of all passengers.

What Has Happened to the Terminal 1 Building?

Parts of the former Terminal 1 building — including the entrance, security hall, and World Duty Free area — have been rebranded as part of an expanded Terminal 3 (effective 5 March 2026). The space is being incorporated into Terminal 3's multi-million pound refurbishment, including an expanded departure lounge and new retail and dining outlets.

New P-Numbered Car Park System

Manchester Airport introduced a new numbered signage system on 5 March 2026. All car parks are now identified by a P-number (P1 to P16):
